The ingredients needed to make Caramel apples:
  1. Make ready 16 Large red and green apples
  2. Get 2 bags caramel squares
  3. Get 4 Tbsp. Water
  4. Get 16 twigs
  5. Get 2 Tbsp. Black food coloring

Caramel apples make a wonderful treat for Halloween. You can find them in grocery stores during the Fall, but why buy them when you can make your own? Caramel apples are one of those things that are as much fun to make as they are to eat! I made this batch with my goddaughter Piper with apples she had picked at a nearby orchard.

Instructions to make Caramel apples:
  1. In a medium greased pot heat to med-low heat on stove top. Add in caramel squares and water and stir until caramel is melted and smooth. Add food coloring and incorporate.
  2. Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Spray with cooking spray.
  3. Stick in twigs at tops of each apple. Dip in caramel coating completely using a spoon if necessary. Twirl to coat completely. Let caramel dip off and then tip over stick side down an out 20 sec. to let caramel set. Place on parchment paper.
  4. Let cool and serve.
